A few months ago, one of our local food suppliers came to us and asked if we would throw our support behind renting a commercial kitchen in London where she could work and where we might open a second cafe. It was early for us to do that, but we wanted to help so we commited to this project. Two months into what is now The Briscoe Cafe, our cook dropped out of the project leaving us to open the cafe and cook most of our food. Well, we have struggled to meet this challenge and last weekend we opened the doors of The Briscoe. Its a happy event for sure, but we are kind of desperate for help.  read more »

Help Protect the Earth's Oceans - Call out

Greenpeace will be in London June 2nd and 3rd

As supermarkets are the biggest retailers of seafood, persuading them to
adopt sustainable seafood procurement policies should have a major impact on
fisheries practices.

Greenpeace is currently organizing a big tour around in 3 different
provinces that will be happening at the same time (Ontario, Quebec and
B.C.).  Greenpeace needs your help on June 3rd. We will have a briefing and
training the evening before.  read more »

Bicycle trailer home - Materials request

Goal:

1) Build a bicycle trailer under 400lbs

2) Square footage of exterior: 5' x 10'

3) sink, stove/heater (using renewable energy), shower, composting toilet, bed/couch,

4) towed only by bicycle.

5) exterior walls and roof made from old election signs.

6) 100% reused/recycled/sustainable materials

I would like to have this completed by the end of May.

Any help sourcing materials for this project is greatly appreciated. You will be invited to the house warming party upon completion.  read more »
